Ave ou on the edge of Someone Like You (The Harrisons, your seatKimberly Reflections of a Book Addict originally posted here likeloveadore comics They can make us the readers picture easier our favourite characters and if we get to talk about Dark Swan main characters thenou hit a good spot We can see on the cover the famous shaman Odile Dark Swan Eugenie Markham I m not sure who published this comic who draw and colored it but i can simply say it s amazingThe characters from this book series aren t that easy to draw Eugenie has like a dozen of tattoos everyone trickier than the other and an interesting appearance note the hair in each scene her face s expression lights and shades on her hair and eyes with that not so normal indigo colour her clothes and maybe The Most Important Things Her Weapons Then most important things her weapons Then who s face and mood shifts even uicker than the weather and let s remember that he s the hottie male from the series Then Dorian the gentry king Then Dorian s Court and servants The gentry beings who are as various as the shoes from a shopaholic woman If Protection Detail (Capitol K-9 Unit you were the artist to draw all of this i wouldn t even wonder how it would be inou place because this task is not difficult but of a killer oneStill the ones who bought the copyrights did an awesome jobThe script is cool If ou haven t read the original book serie it s ok You will understand what s happening At least i haven t read the book series before but The Comics Convinced Me comics convinced me reading themAnd the drawing is simply perfect I have no objections to thatAs a matter of fact i preffer to show ou some picture instead of commenting something i consider perfectEugenie Markham profile according to GoodreadscomAge 26Hair long cinnamon Eyes violet Height 5 8 Profession Shaman for hire Kiyotaka Maruez profile according to GoodreadscomHair black not uite to his chinEyes large dark Skin golden tanned Height Build tall and broad shouldered nicely muscled golden tanned Height Build tall and broad shouldered nicely muscled born to Japanese mother and Latino father Profession Veterinarian King Dorian along with a part of his Court Storm Born Issue 3 pg 14 by Apathy Inc on deviantART vary slow will not be going on right now 35 stars Storm Born 2 picks up right where the first book left off with Eugenie asleep with her new friend Kiyo when she is awoken by something An ice elemental has invaded their room and Odile is ready for action until she realizes she has none of her tools nearby She is surprised when Kiyo jumps to action especially by his speed and strength Clearly he is not just a veterinarian as he claimed in the previous book but what is heAnother fast paced action packed book and I m ready for MORE I had not had an opportunity to read the novels on which these books are based but I plan on not only continuing these books but getting my hands on the novels as well I strongly urge The Billionaires Unwanted Marriage (BWWM Romance Book 1) you to do the same Tru 4 12 stars After a lovely time spent in the arms of her new lover Kiyo Eugenie awakens to discover an icy beast has invaded their space Before she has time to react Kiyo is up and kicking its butt like a pro while still deliciously naked I might add She finishes the elemental off but not before it says her real name and makes disturbing comments about spreading her soft legs I m still not sure what is up with that but theses sexual innuendos from beasties are getting mighty uncomfortable and I m starting to fear for EugenieThis volume again hooked me from page one and features the same beautifully expressive artwork and bright colors that really grab the eye It s sexy suspenseful and sarcastically humorous It doesn t answer any of my nagging uestions Who is this Kiyo He is definitely much than an extraordinary looking veterinarian Why are creatures suddenly calling Eugenie by her real name and threatening to get all sexy with her What is lurking in the Otherworld Why is a creepy fox in suburbia Why aren t her sex induced scratches from Kiyo healing I don t know any of the answers but I m anxious to see where all of this leadsThis is a fabulous graphic novel so far and I m looking forward to devouring the entire thing Fun and Fantastically Creative The characters develop in this 2nd issue as otherworldly creatures seek out Eugenie The mystery still remains of the how and why they know her name and Eugenie discovers her new found lover KIYO is than he appears and leavingou wonder what type of supernatural creature he is a long with many other unanswered uestions As the story builds the hooked I find myself as the mysterious and suspenseful cliff hanger left me wanting and now I am dying to get my hands on the next issue Pure Enjoyment Guarante. The Otherworld alone to rescue a girl that nobody else will Will she make it back across ali. Rawn me in or been very At first I wondered if it was because I M Used To Reading Japanese used to reading Japanese where they re masters at flow beautiful drawing styles and storytelling mixed into one Manga only produces an average of 18 pages a week or about 32 pages a month depending on the series so mangaka the creators have to master how to balance art and story within those limitations Graphic Novels tend to give ou a bit leeway when it comes to the pages and many times the artists and authors don t take full advantage There are issues with flow art proportions and keeping the story engaging Storm Born has thankfully been one of the series that doesn t suffer these short comings In my review of volume 1 I said that I wasn t blown away by the art but I must admit that it s now growing on me It certain has an exceptional uality about it compared to what else is out there and again the coloring is beautifully done I m liking Eugenie and by the issue and I love love love her expressions now that I m becoming attached to the character The storyline picks up exactly where Volume 1 left off and as the story progresses there are naturally even uestions There s definitely to her new beau Kiyo than meets the eye so perhaps it was a little than fate that drew then together We shall see I do like that things don t seem to be dragging on for too long and Eugenie actually makes decisions instead of leaving things on the back burnerThe pages are short but the story is rich and engaging Eugenie starts out doing her ghost busting thing but it evolves into a deeper plotline A teenaged girl has been kidnapped and taken to another realm by the Gentry the PC form for Fairy Eugenie is her only hope and will need to travel to that realm to save her I am not familiar with Richelle Mead s other works but I m assuming that these fairies aren t the friendly Disney kind Because this is an on going series the major plot points are just beginning So while there s no resolution I can say that I am definitely looking forward to the next issue There s always room for good urban fantasy and I look forward to what Storm Born can bring to the table So far it s carving its own niche in the genre Recently I had the pleasure of reading the second installment of the Dark Swan comic series by Richelle Mead This is the second individual issue or the second half of the first volume due out in October Once again we follow Eugenie Markham a freelance shaman who banishes outerworldly creatures that attempt to invade the human world and take humans hostageThis installment begins with Eugenie involved in a sudden battle with an ice elemental which although not strong enough to take a human form is than strong enough to kill her She is caught off guard as she is sleeping with the vet she meets in the first installment Kiyo at the time of the attack She is saved though when surprisingly Kiyo attacks the ice elemental with superhuman speed and strength Together they defeat the elemental but both are terrified to find out that the other is superhuman Eugenie especially is alarmed to find out that Kiyo fears her wand and therefore may be an elemental himself He flees the apartment before she can banish him to the underworld however Angry and hurt over the new revelation about Kiyo Eugenie eventually decides to travel to the other side to rescue Jasmine a prisoner there who is being held hostage Can she convince her family to let her go Who will she get help from Will she ever find out the truth about KiyoIssue 2 picks up directly where we left off in issue 1 opening boldly with an action packed fight seuence Mead does a great job holding the reader s attention and developing the plot at the same time through such fight seuences Eugenie goes through so many conflicting emotions regarding her feelings towards Kiyo in such a short time that I couldn t help but keep reading to see what happened between the two of them Just as in the first issue we re left off with a great cliff hanger ending that has me dying to know what happens nextAs someone with no artistic talent whatsoever I m always impressed with the imagery in graphic novels that have characters going through some type of soul searching It s hard enough to write about a mental dilemma a character is having but add on top of that the difficulty of expressing that through illustrations and ou have one heck of a task As I said in my review of issue 1 the illustrations are top notch and really get the reader into the storyDefinitely check this series out it s intriguing interesting and filled with action that will Reatures Those who try have The Dark Swan to contend with But Eugenie's about to cross into. .

arsenal includes a gun two and a wand which she uses to either kill or banish her enemies back into the Otherworld After working a normal case Eugenie s world begins to take a drastic turn as members of the supernatural world learn her real name Things only worsen when she is approached with the case of rescuing a missing girl from the Gentry known to us as fairiesStorm Born Vol 2 begins exactly were Vol 1 leaves off After a world wind night with the perfect stranger Eugenie s night comes to a screeching halt when she Is Once Again Attacked By once again attacked by creature from the Otherworld In lieu of this our heroine continues to consider the case of the missing girl and the puzzle continues to unravel from thereThough the plot was incredible the artwork in this particular story is what truly drew me in The pictures do not have a high end hang me in a museum feel to them that most books turned graphic novels have While I am a fan of those this work is detailed The Anthropology of Magic yet grungy It looked exactly like a comic book shouldOverall Storm Born issues 1 and 2 are one action packed kick butt start to a great series It starts with a bang and ends with the same high spirited momentum There is magic mystery and a lot of flare So whetherou have read the previous novels or not The Current War you can still fall in love with the Dark Swan story and it s interestinget lovable characters Eugenie is a smart sexy tough as nails intelligent heroine and her story is one that fans of Richelle Mead should not want to miss RECEIVED FROM The Publisher for ReviewNOTE MY REVIEWS OFTEN CONTAIN SPOILERSWe pick up with Eugenie Markham Freelance Shaman in Kiyo s hotel room When an Ice Elemental attacks the couple where they sleep Eugenie feels shocked and betrayed to see Kiyo jump into the fight as if it s something he does on a regular basis Just exactly who is the man she shared a night of passion withI ll repeat what I ve said in my other reviews by stating I m not the best reviewer choice for this book Maybe if I had all the comic books together to read at once the genre would appeal to me but reading them issue by issue doesn t give me enough of the story to get attached to itLike with the first issue I wouldn t recommend this for ounger readers due to graphic scenes and nudity It s suited to adult readers of the genreMy first major issue with this piece was they changed the story between the end of issue one and beginning of issue two In Issue One she wakes up with Kiyo s hand on her mouth as if he s the one waking her for her own safety In Issue Two it s the same scene but she wakes up on her own because of the cold So the uestion is how exactly did she wake up I don t understand why they changed the scene or why they would expect readers not to noticeYou do get a little emotionally involved with Eugenie as a character in this issue however I ll admit I lost a little respect for her in the scenes where she s obsessing about a one night stand If ou re the type to feel one night stand If Londons Late Night Scandal (Midnight Secrets, you re the type to feel involved with a one night standou aren t the type that should be having themAgain like with the other issue Lasciviousness you don t receive a full story arc andou re just receiving the set up for a larger story Eugenie does make a decision on uestions asked in the previous issue but Minerva Cries Murder you don t really get to the action of that in this issueI think ifou gave me all the issues together after publication in one piece where I d get a beginning middle and end to the story instead of just small snatches of the story in issue then I might actually enjoy it However reading it as individual issue theres just not enough there for me to get involved as a reader By the time I start to care the issue is endingThis may really appeal to true fans of the genre but it just didn t appeal to me Many thanks to Sea Lion Books for providing a review copyThere s really only one thing to say about this series uality is greater than uantity Lately I ve been reading a number of graphic novels that just haven t Eugenie Markham is a freelance shaman guarding our world from the invasion of Otherworldly
